We clean top to bottom on purpose. Ceilings, fans, and high trim first, then cabinets, fixtures, windows, and sills, then the floors last so the dust that falls during the earlier steps gets picked up at the end.

Construction dust is fine enough that it hangs and re-settles, so we often do a first pass and a detail pass. We walk the space with you at the end so you can confirm it is ready for move-in, staging, or handoff.

This is the thing that catches people out after a remodel. Drywall dust, sawdust, silica from cut tile and stone, and grout haze are not the same material as the dust that settles in a house normally. Drywall dust is fine enough to stay airborne for hours and to pass straight through a household vacuum, which then blows it back into the room through the exhaust.

So the well-meaning attempt to clean up after the trades leave usually makes the problem move rather than end. The dust gets stirred, redistributed, and pulled into the HVAC return, and the house is still hazy a week later. Anyone who has tried it recognizes the pattern: you clean the surfaces, and the next morning they are coated again.

On larger projects the work naturally splits into stages, and knowing the difference saves money. A rough clean happens once the dust-generating trades are done and before finishes go in: debris out, surfaces cleared, the site made workable. The final clean happens after everything is installed and is the one that gets the space to move-in condition. A touch-up follows any trade that comes back afterwards, and someone almost always comes back.

On a single-room remodel it is usually one visit. On a whole-house renovation or a new build, staging it costs less overall than one enormous clean at the end, because a final clean on a site that never had a rough clean takes far longer than the two together.
